ChannelAdvisor Australia giving away free beer?

It is nice that ChannelAdvisor has an office here in Melbourne. Even nicer is that they aren’t far away, and they are a bunch of generous folk who have just held some Christmas drinks for a few important clients (oh, and they also invited us along after some arm twisting).

Heck, there was some free wine and beer, I would have turned up anyway, knocking on the door…

A casual get together, it was a good chance to meet a few other CA clients and chat about business and opportunities. Nothing like a bit of networking. I got a good opportunity to chat with someone from a retail chain who is looking at CA as an ecommerce/eBay option. It is always good to see and hear a little more about the ‘bricks and mortar’ world. I am keen to see more well known retail brands enter the eBay and online market in general. I think it will benefit brands like eBay tremendously to have retail chains appearing, selling brand new product.

I have talked about big box retailers like Big W, Target etc and their lack of movement in the online space, maybe we are just starting to see a shift in opinion?

And as usual we got to hear a little bit about the state of the online market here downunder, particularly the last few months leading up to the start of December. Generally, November was seen as a flat month mostly thanks to the Australian election.

We didn’t notice that too much, our sales tend to remain a little steady, but there were others who have been feeling the pinch a little this year.

In fact, this seems to be a common theme among Powersellers this year. Australian eBayer’s have to work bloody hard to get a piece of our market. And from what I see and hear it just seems to be getting harder.
