Do buyers care about Platinum Powersellers?

I was told the other day that another one of my eBay accounts has reached Platinum Powerseller status. Cool. Well, at least I think that’s cool, but is it?

I feel like I have been griping a little too much about poor eBay recently, but I can’t help it, plenty of things bug me!

What does being a Powerseller mean to buyers?

I have seen and read lots of discussion about Powerseller status over the past few years, and there are really two sides to the argument.

1)  Advertise your Powerseller status, as it should help your chances to get a sale, because of the Powerseller requirements or

2) Doesn’t matter, in fact, don’t show the logo at all!

I personally think the Powerseller logo should be shown. It probably does show to a buyer that you are either a professional type of seller, or trying to be one.

But my issues are this:

So what do good sellers want?

I want to be able to market my business performance to customers.

I want to stand out from my competition who are not as good as we are.

I want my customers to have a clear impression from Powerseller status, Detailed Seller Ratings and feedback scores to know that we are trustworthy.

Bugger the level playing field! Let the good sellers shine, and the bad ones suffer!

The current Powerseller scheme and Detailed Seller Ratings just don’t do justice to the good sellers out there and as a result, buyers are educated, and I don’t think they care about <insert powerseller status> Powersellers much at all, which is a shame.
