ChannelAdvisor Launching an Australian Office
Are you a growing Australian eBay seller looking for a solution to grow your eBay sales?
News is out that ChannelAdvisor is launching a dedicated Australian office later this year.
My spies tell me they are currently in the process of setting up shop, and recruiting. There is one position currently listed on the ChannelAdvisor website, “Search Marketing Account Manager, Melbourne Australia”.
That ChannelAdvisor is establishing offices in Australia is good news for current Australian ChannelAdvisor customers (we use CA, and there are a number of others here too) as we will be able to get local support in our time zone, dedicated staff for Australia, and hopefully some more locale specific changes made such as:
- Listing feeds for other Australian online marketplaces, (like Oztion, Tradingpost, etc) and maybe even trademe.co.nz
- Better country specific coding (GST instead of VAT during checkout!)
- Ability to create more comparison shopping site feeds
- And maybe ability for us to access more international sales channels
So who are ChannelAdvisor?
If you are a large eBay seller then you may already be familiar with the name. Essentially they primarily produce a product called ChannelAdvisor Merchant which is an inventory based selling manager tool, enabling you to manage listings on eBay accounts, create store product data feeds to send to other sales channels (shopping.com etc), run your own integrated online store and more.
Marketworks does similar things and also has a customer base in Australia.
ChannelAdvisor will have to be fairly aggressive in their marketing to current customers of other channel management software (such as Marketworks, Vendio etc) to convert them to ChannelAdvisor Merchant and build a larger customer base over here.
They will need to do this to make a permanent office worthwhile as the Australian/Asia Pacific market is much smaller than the US market, with less channels available to sell into. Therefore customer base growth will be imperative. Advertising for a search marketing person means shows their commitment to bringing their new ShoppingAdvisor product downunder.
The main comparison sites to work with here will be au.shopping.com, getprice.com.au and myshopping.com.au.
I have no doubt in the ability of the product. There are many large scale etailers in North America using the platform and from what I know about ten other accounts in Australia besides ourselves.
With expansion into Asia (Singapore etc) we might be able to benefit with some of that local support I have been wanting.
