Online Retail in Australia - Some More Thoughts

I have posted recently about the current state of online retail in Australia, given that most of our big box retailers aren’t entering the market yet, and again highlighted the growth of stores like Dealsdirect, oo.com.au and more.

A story released yesterday by Itnews.com.au follows up this topic with some quotes from Paul Greenberg of Dealsdirect and his opinion of the online retail space in Australia.

“We are a retail business that uses the internet as our trading platform. I don’t think Harvey Norman should lose any sleep over us just yet,” said Greenberg, whose 40-employee-strong business is based in Sydney’s outer suburb of Punchbowl.

According to Greenberg, online retail is still in its infancy in Australia, but the concept is not a model to be sniffed at.

I happen to agree with Paul’s views. I don’t think there has been a better time for online retailers to grow their business in an expanding market here in Australia.
