Of Course Its Made in China!
Just about everything these days in made in China. Ok ok, don’t start flaming me for that comment.I admit some stuff is made in Thailand, Indonesia and India too…
My staff and I often get asked the question “Where is your product made?”.
We answer them each and every time “In China” and often add “… like just about everything else these days”.
But we add a little more than that…
See, I think it is time consumers started thinking a little bit more about the products that they buy, and removing some of the stereotypes of country of manufacture vs quality.
I am quite happy to discuss where our product is made (China mostly), why we buy it there, and how we buy great quality products.
Just today I spent some 15 minutes with a customer looking at some of our guitars and we talked about this very issue. He used to be in retail himself and has a friend importing a range of well known power tools from China currently.
Consumers that want to be educated are keen to hear about China as a place to source quality goods. It all depends of course where you buy from, who you buy from, and what you do to ensure you get what you pay for.
What annoys me is people who are quick to say “its made in China, it is crap”.
If you are one of these people, denigrating brands that you may not have heard of, then I wonder…
- Have you been to China?
- Have you visited factories in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Futian, Weihei, Ningbo, Suzhou and other cities?
- Have you attended trade fairs, examined quality, and tested samples?
- Have you tried the brands you have just denigrated?
And I guess most importantly, have you checked to see where your current favourite brands are made?
Of course, they are made in China!
