How To Write The Best eBay Product Titles & Boost eBay Sales!
Why would I write about making better eBay product titles to boost eBay sales? Isn’t it easy? Doesn’t everyone do it?
Well, Yes and no.
Yes, it is easy to write a descriptive title, so people understand what you are selling, but you have to work a little harder to make sure you get the highest number of visitors possible to your items, and the best search engine optimisation possible too. This will boost your eBay sales instantly.
eBay customers use the eBay search tool HEAVILY. And you have to make sure they find your product!
I na competitive market, that can be the difference between your eBay products making a loss, or making a profit.
How do you do it? Read on and look at the examples I give to see what happens when you write better titles.
Think like a customer
Start thinking like a customer looking for one of your products. Go to eBay and type in a search. Start with a simple search like ‘fishing rod‘.
Then look at the results in the listings. They are all fishing rods of course, which means your search worked! But hang on, what about looking at ALL the actual category listings? Are there MORE fishing rods in there that haven’t appeared in your search?
There are some more items that appear in the category but not in the search. In the case I just looked at, I found these other items on the front page of results that I would have been interested in :
- <brand> 4-6lb Casting Rod
- <brand> 1.98 IM6 Graphite Light 4-8lbs Spin Rod
- <brand> Spin Stick 7′ 0″ Graphite Composite Rod
… and many more!
Spot the difference? They are missing a very important and quite essential keyword (‘fishing’) in their titles.
How many potential customers are these sellers (don’ tell them, they are my competitors! :)) missing out on because they left one simple but important keyword term out of their listing titles??? Lots!
It has happened to me too obviously. You look at your eBay sales analysis for a group pf products for the pas 3 days and one has been performing terribly. You can scratch your head until you notice the obvious. Doh! ‘Fishing’ wasn’t in the title. Solution solved, and the the next sales see a 50% boost in eBay sales price…
So think like a customer. What would they, what would YOU type in to find your own products?
Do some ‘search’ research
Maybe you are not sure what the best terms are to put in your titles?Use some of the great tools out there to see what customers search on most often in your product vertical or when looking for a particular type of product in your vertical.
You could try Overture’s search suggestion tool and see how many searches for particular terms there were for the last month.
This could give you some really good clues.
Other considerations
Of course you don’t want your eBay product title to sound boring and robotic either. Maybe use the subtitle for some selling copy?
Also, use your key terms in your eBay listings. Each listing should be well stocked with appropriate terms to help customers searching on eBay and Google to find your products and make a bid.
So thats it! Simple isn’t it?
Take an hour to look at your product titles and BOOST your eBay sales!
