Review of Shawn Knight’s Blog
I have decided to keep adding a few reviews of blogs that I find interesting, and of course blogs that may link back to me! :)
This time it is the blog of Shawn Knight.
Who is Shawn? he is a 24 yr old website owner, running his business full time. His website is www.ocia.net. It looks like it is a busy site and would take some time to run, but he obviously enjoys it.. “…thus far, I absolutely love it! Being your own boss is great, as is doing what you love. I couldn’t be happier with my decision.”
Blog content
Shawn’s blog content is well structured into various topics. He writes about his life, what is happening in it, and running his business.
I find his ‘business’ blogs most interesting as I run my own internet businesses. Running a website that is growing is a challenge. There are always tons of things to do, but if you enjoy it as much as Shawn does it makes it a lot easier.
Shawn recently wrote about the effect of getting to the front page of digg which I found very interesting. I am sure my website (running on a virtual server on one of my work boxes) would collapse under the load should that ever happen to me…
The other content I really liked was the Photo-a-day section. I like my photography (and have yet to find a quick and easy way to load pics into my own posts to show off) and Shawn has some nice pics too. Worth having a look at.
Blog Design
I really like his clean blog design. No clutter, all the components of the page are clearly defined. You know what is a post, you know where it finishes, the other navigation options are clear. The links are a nice contrasting colour too (unlike some blogs when they seem to be only 1 shade different to the current text colour… yuk)
All his inline pics are the right width too and display well.
Maybe it looks so nice because it isn’t cluttered with advertising like some blogs? :)
Summary
Good work Shawn, keep it up. Its a nice blog, easy to read and has some good information in there. And I like the masthead pic.
