Making Money From Blogging – My Experiment
Thats right. I am going to try making some money from blogging. I am not going to link to my blog from my other existing (high PR) sites. I have started from nothing, and will keep track of my progress and maybe my revenues too.
I am not running this blog with the SOLE purpose of making a few extra $$$, but it sure doesn’t hurt. Really, I want to experiment with the software, generate my own traffic, and see if people like what I have to say.
How will I do it?
- Content. To start off with, a blog is a content driven site. I will write articles on specific topics which will become categories. Each of these articles and topics will use keywords appropriate to the content in the title and body text. Articles won’t tend to be too long, and will stick to the point
- Advertising. This is the challenging bit. I need to absolutely maximise my traffic by generating as much $$$ as possible from it. This sill be done using a variety of advertising platforms out there, most notably :
- Google Adwords – the original and probably the best way to make money online from text ads.
- Other text ads services – I will try to sell links on my site to interested people, starting cheaply then getting more expensive as traffic grows.
- Chitika eMinimalls – Chitika eMinimalls have received great reviews from a number of people and can be used when you are writing product specific articles (which I may do a little of)
- Direct sales (text links etc) (a good program is Text Link Ads (I may get commission if you follow this link!)
What software am I using?
I am using WordPress. I have installed a number of plugins and am only running on a small server at the moment. If traffic grows I will move the blog to its own machine which would be a little faster.
I will be testing this software to see how suitable it will be for some future expansions.
So, lets see how we go. Its practically day zero for me today as I have not done very few search engine submissions yet. It starts tonight. Lets see what traffic I get, and how much pocket money I can make!
