Calling All Dot Com Moguls!
I read a funny post on the johnchow.com website the other day, and it piqued my interest a little bit.
It is titled ‘Requirements to be a dot com mogul’.
Ill quote a little from the article :
“To be considered a Dot Com Mogul you must meet all the follow requirements.
- Your income is made from the Internet
- The minimum Internet income level is $10,000 per month (you can not add income from other sources to hit this $10K level)
- You have no jobs outside of the Internet
- You have a personal blog with your name as the domain name
- Your blog must be updated at least once per week
- A Google search of your name must be at the #1 spot
- You must be willing to help dot com mogul wannabes
”
I have to say that I went through the list to see if I answered yes to all the questions! It also made me think a bit. If I do answer yes, does that really make me a mogul? To me, mogul conjures up some grander requirements (maybe owning your own private jet, or a newspaper or something). But I wondered, how many ‘moguls’ are out there?
I visited jakeldaily.com tonight saw that he posted on the same subject as well. Jake seems a little way off (but then his blog is well on its way given the page views he quotes), so goog luck Jake!
I would love to see some comments from a few of my readers about this. Are you a ‘mogul’? Are you close? Do you even want to be?
I do a bit or browsing and researching online and most of the comments I see in blogs and forums (especially regarding topics of making money online) indicates there are VERY few people who could answer yes to all of these posts.
But by hell there are a lot trying! I say, if you love working online, grab the challenge and run…

Thanks Andy,
Good luck with your blog. I like the focus, you have good topical content to attract a nice bunch or core readers.
I meander across too many topics I think! :)
Cheers,
Nathan
Hi nathan
I can say yes to most of the items on that list except I have other jobs and don’t hit the $10K/month because I spend time on other things besides blogging
If I only did one thing for an income eg: blogging I’d get bored quickly

Just read your blog from the top 100 list. I like your writing style, makes the posts interesting to read.
I have recently started in the “blogging” world, and not even close to being a mogul, but given my forte is investing and personal finance, I focused on that area. Check it out if you have time. I will put a link to your site on my blog.
Cheers,
Andy
