Fill out the product range
So you are looking for more products to sell, expand your business.
Are you looking too far away? Why not look at your core lines and see what really compliments them?
In our case, one of our core lines is musical instruments. We supply a quality range of products with our own brand and they are doing well for us. Rather than look at a totally new line (with significant investment in new branding, marketing, new product template for eBay sales etc) we looked at offering complimentary products.
In this case it is accessories. With guitars we sell stands, straps, leads, amplifiers, picks, capos, slides and the list goes on. In future we might look at music, lessons and more items that can be sold to the same customers.
This has a few benefits, the main one is it offers better service for customers. A wider range of products means they are likely to spend more with you, come back more often, and recommend you to more people as a place to go for musical products.
And as a bonus, your existing suppliers can usually provide these products for you, rather than having to find new suppliers for all new product ranges (which can be time consuming and difficult).
And don’t forget that even your cheaper products will have benefit as addons, upsells and of course an attraction of more customers. More products = more keywords, more website content, more variety, more traffic and more sales!
