A long (mostly non work) week. But still stressful…
I spent the week down in Hobart due to a family emergency. My dad had a health issue, and I flew immediately down to Hobart on Tuesday morning. I had spent the day in Sydney on Monday (long day), spent all week on Hobart and just got home yesterday. A long week.
Thank God my dad seems ok now. In fact, he should be 100% again soon, but he will be in hospital for another week or so. More tests to be done etc.
Of course, this has meant no blog updates, no tweets and very little work for the last week due to a distinct lack of internet facilities where I was!
What scared me this week was the shock of what happened. I hear of other folks having health issues and feel some sympathy for them of course. But you never seem to expect something to happen out of the blue with your own parents (well, I didn’t anyway).
Maybe it is time I start thinking about the inevitable so I might be a little more prepared one day, should it happen. For now though I am lucky to have both of my parents.
It sure puts things in perspective though. I spent a lot of time supporting my mum who was quite stressed and worried and thinking about jobs, family and the future.
In any case, tomorrow it is back to the hustle and bustle of work. So what am I doing now? Well, it is too late to start anything too detailed so instead I am listening to an audio recording about outsourcing in order to work a 17 hr work week!
So if it is any good, I will post a link :)
