Using Audio To Improve Your Product Sales

I found a great little flash component recently that allows you to embed audio files (mp3 format) anywhere you like!

The files used are originally part of a wordpress plugin called the “Audio Player WordPress Plugin” from 1pixelout.

But the great thing about this little discovery was that someone has written a tutorial in how to use the flash file to embed audio files anywhere, not just in wordpress blogs.

So, do you have products that make a sound? Want to show your customers in a neat way what they sound like to boost product sales?

You only need a few files to make this work!

For some detailed instructions you can click here.

But simply, you need only 2 files from the plugin…

  • player.swf (this is the audio player)
  • audio-player.js (this is the JavaScript)

… and then you need to change the URLs and filenames to your own. (see the code you need to implement on your page here).

Here are some audio examples:
Try listening to one of my Marquez C23 handmade guitars:

Or maybe my Marquez alto saxophone?

Or one of my favourites, our Electric Guitar starter pack (with amplifier).

We haven’t done any testing yet to see if there is a difference in price or conversion rate as a new shipment of stock has not yet arrived, but I don’t think a feature like this will hurt us at all, especially when we need to demonstrate the quality of our products compared to some other competitors out there.

Browse my guitars to see how we have implemented this:

Have you tried audio (or maybe video) and had some success?
